Here's what the WAN port looks like on my router: As you can see, the port is clearly marked "Internet" to ensure it's used to connect the router to a modem. The WAN port is only half of the story, however. In addition to a WAN port, routers usually have additional ethernet ports. These ports are called local area network, or LAN ports.

Ethernet Port 1 is always green even if nothing is plugged into it. It fried the landlord's modem router combo, damaged my router. My symptoms were a lack of speed. I tested using my laptop at the port (his network jack) to see that speed was good. My WAN port on the modem was damaged and affected maximum speed being sent.
Asrock H61-vgs Windows 10, the problem persist out of windows 10, ethernet is enabled in bios and there is nothing different except for the port not working at all, even device manager shows no issues. They sent a second one thinking the original one was faulty
The ethernet ports stop working, while wifi works. Rebooting the modem does not help, but resetting to factory settings using the small pin-hole fixes the problem. This problem happens
Ethernet connection in hotel room. So my house just recently had a major fire and I will therefore be living in a hotel for the next 2 months.
